Visiting Rome tomorrow for the third time in my life: for the first time with a good camera. For an artist and graduated art historian this is really exciting. Every corner is just overloaded with history and pieces of art. Many churches have hidden treasures made by Michelangelo, Bernini, Raffael, Caravaggio and others. But still my favorite place is a very tiny church called San Carlino alle Quattro Fontane by the great architect master Francesco Borromini (1599 - 1667).
It has very small space inside but still it appears huge. Really a mystical place made by the deeply spiritual person Borromini who was able to transform his mind into matter in a very beautiful way. Walls become fluid, lines are curved and every power has it counterpart – so everything becomes one. If go there you can sense his devotion by just experience this space. The picture shows the cupola of this church.
